Singapore was chosen by Hamstech as the destination for its Fashion Design students as a part of the curriculum for the 18-month Fashion Design course. The course gave the students an ample scope not only to build their skills but also to get exposed to the international fashion scene.
The course was specifically designed to deliver a comprehensive curriculum that teaches several parameters of Fashion Designing. The course offers a 3-week immersion programme in Singapore. Here, the students get to meet fashion experts who conduct Fashion Design classes in different topics of the subject.
The affiliation of Hamstech with renowned universities make it possible for the students to attend Fashion Design training on an international level. The students who have already attended the course and visited Singapore have got introduced to an array of resources in this field. Singapore is the biggest supplier for international brands like Nike, Gap and Macy’s. Singaporean brands like Charles & Keith are also renowned worldwide. There are more fashion-related details that have helped improve the students’ impression of Singapore.
During the training there, the students visit museums (Art Science Museum, National Gallery, Singapore), Textile spots (Arab Street, Chinatown, Spotlight, Mustafa) and art tools shops (ArtFriend). The site visits helped them understand the history and culture of Singapore.
They were also given an introduction to the Singapore Fashion Week, which is one of the most prestigious annual fashion events. The students also get to know about how Singapore is trying to promote the country as a fashion hub by encouraging people to “Buy and wear Singapore”. This is evident by the way Fashion Design schools are creating new talents, trained to shine on the world stage.
Another amazing treat in the fashion that the students got was the Singaporean street fashion. From local flavours to reputed brands, there was something for everyone to get fascinated by.
The overseas training programme in fashion at Singapore in collaboration with MDIS University, Singapore, gives the students of Hamstech a lifetime experience. The sessions are designed for skill development in topics like design development and specialised topics like 3D Pattern Drafting.
In all, the Singapore chapter of the course proves greatly beneficial and enlightening for the budding designers at Hamstech. If you are interested in Fashion Design and want to gain such an experience, enrol in Hamstech now!
