Lip stains are a major part of Korean makeup looks as they have an extensive skincare routine followed by minimal makeup to highlight their features. While falling in love with K-dramas, we also loved the makeup and outfits those stars were sporting. Lip stains are watery, highly pigmented and stay on for longer hours post application. These can be used as a multipurpose product, especially for people who love doing minimal makeup and would like getting it done in less time. We are going to be looking at some other uses of lip stains and how that makes it a super product!
As a Blush
Using lip stain as a cheek tint/blush adds a pop of colour to your makeup. You could apply this lip stain over a full glam makeup look or your subtle everyday makeup look and it will give you the same kind of effect. To use it as a cheek tint, all you need to do is, squeeze a few drops on to your fingertips and dab it over the apples of your cheeks and blend it evenly. Immediately blend the tint as it is highly pigmented if not blended soon enough, it will leave a patchy stain. Also keep your base makeup dewy to make it easier for the lip stain to spread/blend effortlessly. You will be left with a dewy finish and sun kissed glow that’ll also look natural!
As an Eyeshadow
Many of us avoid using eyeshadow on a daily basis as it does take some time and effort. You will need some blending and that will take time but we are always in a hurry, rushing about things. Using a lip stain as an eyeshadow is super quick, easy and doesn’t require a lot of blending. First apply some concealer mixed with your moisturiser to make your eyelids supple and dewy. If you still feel like your eyelids are dry apply some Vaseline or petroleum jelly. This not only hydrates but also adds some extra sheen to your eyelids. Now take one two drops of your lip stain and gently dab it over your eyelids while blending it into your base. This will leave you with a natural looking pigment that doesn’t look made-up. Since most of the lip stains come in shades of reds, pinks, oranges and browns, you’ll be able to do a nude or bold eyeshadow look. You could even try blending two lip stains to create a kind of transitioning.

As a Color Corrector
Color correctors are mainly used to camouflage concerns like
- Pigmentation
- Inflammation
- Discoloring
- Tan lines
- Dark circles
- Smile lines.
Different concerns require different colours to neutralize them and achieve an even skin tone. Lip stains can be used to conceal dark circles as they are mainly available in shades of reds and oranges. These colors cancel out dark circles and need to be used before applying your concealer or foundation. Apply a lip stain under your eyes and dab it evenly. Apply concealer in dots on your under eyes and blend it in. Your under eyes will easily blend in with the rest of your makeup without looking ashy.
As an Ombre Lip Colour
Ombre lip has a huge fan base of its own and looks really good when done right. Ombre lip is when you do a two toned lip color that transitions from a lighter to a darker shade or vice versa. You can easily get an ombre lip by using a lip stain. You need to do some skincare for your lips before starting with this look. It’s really important that you have a smooth base to start with. Scrub all the dead skin off your lips with a mild lip scrub, wash it off and apply a lip oil. After the oil gets soaked up, dab some petroleum jelly or any lip balm you like. Now take a darker lip stain and dab it on the inner side of your lips. Now just try blending it outwards into your lip line to get an ombre lip!
