Hamstech Fashion Show 2017, the annual fashion show organised by Hamstech, became the stage to showcase some very interesting collections. Denimkari was one such collection, that presented a unique fusion of two textile lineages that are worlds apart: denim and Kalamkari.

 

 

The collection “Denimkari” introduced a quirky combination of denim and Kalamkari that was amusing and intriguing at the same time. A bullseye job at combining trendiness with tradition, the collection was deservingly given the “Most Embellished Collection” award at the fashion event. The garments in the collection had a rich presence of Kalamkari art, merged with the timelessly trendy denim fabric which gave the collection’s design a touch of true innovation.

The variety of garments in the collection included saree and blouse, maxi dress, cape with skirt tunic and skirt, and anarkali. Denim was merged with these dresses in different manners. In the saree set, denim was used as the main fabric for the blouse. The raw silk blouses had Kalamkari appliqué work on the necklines and sleeves. Few blouses had Kalamkari patches too.

 

 

The crepe and Chanderi silk sarees in the collection had borders had denim borders with Kalamkari facing. In the maxi dresses, for its top and skirt, denim was the main fabric with Kalamkari patches on them. A similar treatment was done on anarkali and tunic as well.

Applying the knowledge acquired from fashion designing courses at the right places, the students did a commendable job to win the deserving prize. The talented designers behind the collection were Tanvi Mittal, Sri Sai Neha Pericherla, Uppalapati Chandana and Sarada Priya Darshini.P.

 

 

Hamstech Institute, with its annual fashion show, has always amazed the audience with the brilliance and innovativeness of its students. The show inspires even more creative youngsters and fashion enthusiasts to take up fashion designing as a career.
