Among many such events, Hamstech Fashion Show is a very eagerly anticipated annual event in Hyderabad. Every year, students from the fashion designing department participate by creating exquisite collections that are showcased on the ramp

Hamstech Fashion Show 2017 was a success with 31 collections on display. Each collection was different from the other in terms of design, pattern, fabric and style. Out of these, the ‘Vairagya’ collection, which is inspired by the Kumbh mela, won the title of “Most Innovative Collection” of the year.

 

 

Kumbh mela is the one of the world’s biggest festivals held every three years at four different locations in India. The sangam or the union of the sacred waters of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswathi, which has great relevance to the festival, is taken as inspiration for the beautiful garments of this collection. The pure bliss of the sacred communion of these rivers is very well presented in the flowing silhouettes of the collection.

The title ‘Innovative’ is well earned by the collection as designers have experimented with various types of fabrics like jersey silk, Mangalgiri silk and muslin silk with block prints. Vairagya, the collection, specialises in fusion and ethnic wear such as sarees, dresses, blouses, tops and jackets.

 

 

 

Hamstech’s talented designers who worked behind the collection are, Syed Jesika, Swetha Gattu, Sindhu Narella, Mounika, Neha Unnisa, Prathyusha Yakkati and Tejaswini Lebaku.

The preparation for the annual fashion show starts a couple of months before the event every year. Students at Hamstech get the guidance of faculty and mentors which helps them to put up a confident display of collections.
