Every challenge to prove skill, talent and knowledge comes as a real opportunity for the strong-willed and the passionate. The Liva Protégé ’17 presented just the right platform for the budding fashion designers from all over India to join, design and showcase their creations to prove their mettle.
Interestingly, the competition saw over 120 fashion institutions nominating and sending the best of their students to present their creations as per stipulations. The contestants were lively and fervent with the dream to get to the winning spot.
From over 100 students who participated, Hamstech’s fashion design students, Sonika Reddy Pulluru and Sairoja Tingirikar, succeeded in becoming two of the 10 finalists who will compete in the grand finale of the event on 14th December 2017.
Sonika Reddy presented her collection named “Florlinea”, featuring saree, scarfs, tops, dresses, jackets, pants and skirts with designs inspired by a wealth of pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern art.
Sairoja Tingirikar brought her collection named “Pixel Kari” that featured pixelated version of the traditional Kalamkari design crafted in a colour palette that includes maroon, beige, mustard yellow and brownish grey colours.
The Liva Protégé ’17 by ABOF is a unique platform for the best budding fashion designers from the Indian talent pool. The aim is to give them the opportunity to find their rightful place in the industry, thus making their career aspirations meaningful.
The competition runs in two phases of which the current one is the last. In the first round, every participant fashion institute had a maximum of 10 of their brightest students been selected and sent to compete in the event. The students had to make 4 sketches of women’s wear and submit their mood boards, colour boards and fabric suggestions.
Five contestants shortlisted from each zone were assigned a mentor who guided them with their creations and shortlisted 2 top performers each. The whole selection process has now culminated in the selection of 10 finalists who will now be working on ready-to-dye Liva fabrics. Their works will be judged for the qualities of aesthetics, design, fluidity and functionality, which are salient properties of LIva’s new-age fabrics from the house of Grasim Industries Ltd.
The finalists from Hamstech Institute are mentored by renowned fashion designer Anand Kabra at the event. In a highly anticipated showdown, these brilliant students are expected to put in all the skills, knowledge and creative fervour developed at Hamstech under the tutelage of expert faculty and mentorship of Neeta Lulla.
The institute, one of the top fashion designing institutes in Hyderabad is all praise and encouragement for the hard work and success gained by its students at the event. We wish them all success at the grand finale slated to take place in Mumbai on 14th December 2017.
