Set Up a Background
If you take a deeper look, you will notice that most of the pictures that look good have a background that works well with the theme of that picture. Once you pick a theme, occasion, or outfit for indoor photography, think about the kind of background that you would like to have. If you want to emphasise on the subject alone, then opt for solid and symmetric backdrops like walls, doors or you could even tie up a bedsheet in the background and crop the extras. If you want the picture to tell a story, then you will have to find a background that adds value to your pictures.
Add Elements
Extra elements in a picture apart from the subject are a welcoming change. A lot of fashion photographs and portraits(1) have a few key elements that are placed in the frame. These elements could be anything, a plant, a vintage typewriter, lamps, a book or similar things. If you are shooting pictures for your blog, you can get some really good shots by adding a few elements that will make the picture stand out! You don’t have to explicitly go and buy stuff, make use of the things around you. Think of creative ways in which these elements could add an extra dimension to your pictures. Since you have readily available backgrounds for indoor photography, you can surely play around with elements and set ups.

Get Comfortable In Front of the Camera
This isn’t as easy as it seems. During indoor photography, we tend to click our own pictures with the help of a tripod or ask our friends or family to do it for us. Either way you need to get comfortable in front of the camera. Try practicing different poses while looking at the camera, click a few photos and see what needs to be changed & what can be improved. Start with poses that you are comfortable with then build on that, because nervousness can be caught on camera. Experiment with your looks & outfits. Don’t be afraid of looking silly or lose your inhibitions and just go ahead and pose as if nobody’s watching! You will end up with some really great captures and also a few candid ones even.
