Here is the list of best portrait photography poses that you can practice without a photography course in India.
Great Portrait Photography Poses
1. 45-Degree Rule
You might look broad and bulky when your face and body are facing straight at the camera. In order to avoid it, turn your body 45 degrees towards one of the sides to look more relaxed and slimmer. Alternatively, you can turn your head 45-degrees having the body facing forward, towards the camera. One of the classic portrait photography poses.
2. Crossed Legs
These portrait poses are generally for women. Bring all the weight onto one leg and cross the other over it or behind it. While crossing the legs, the hip looks curvy and accentuates the body’s shape.
3. Weight on the Back Foot
Position the subject in such a way that one leg is placed slightly forward than the other and shift the weight to the back foot. With this, your front leg tends to bend and look more natural. This pose is for both male and female models that work well. For women, popping the hip to accentuate the body’s natural curves can be an added advantage.
4. S-Shape Pose
A feminine pose accentuates the natural curves, gives more body flow and poses your client following an S-shape. It shouldn’t look awkward or uncomfortable. Even just a hint of the S-shape can also work well. This pose can be achieved by a model – sitting, standing or even lying down.
5. Leaning Back
This is a great versatile pose that works great with everyone – men and women, children and elders; for casual and formal shoots, groups or single portraits. Make the rest of the body more relaxed with this idea by having physical support. You can mix it up with other poses but make sure it fits the situation and model. For instance, if the photo shoot is for children, ask them to tilt their heads back towards the wall or if your subject is female, ask them to curve their backs to enhance their natural curves.
6. Leaning Forward
Shape the body and make the face the focal point by leaning forward towards the camera. Due to its greatness, it is used in a lot of portrait photography poses. But remember that anything closer to the camera will look bigger and this will automatically slim the body. Stand at a reasonable distance and avoid using a wide-angle lens so that the face doesn’t look disproportionate.
7. Leaning Back with Leg Up
Looking for full-length portrait photography poses? Try this one that is simple and relaxed. It’s a casual variation of the leaning back pose where you simply bend one leg up to the wall. This pose is better done if the model is wearing trousers since having the knee pointing towards the camera.
8. Crossed Arms
A classic pose for corporate portraits. It should be used with care because if the model looks stiff, it can look stand-offish. Build a good rapport and help them relax before you take the shot. I wouldn’t use this pose as the first one of the photoshoot. It is one of the best portrait photography poses that you can use successfully with both men and women. When posing for fashion models it suits best to display some attitude.
9. Arms Up
This is a classic pose that helps to look slimmer. Ask your model or client to raise their hands up, and while the hands are up, they can also play with the hair and hold up a scarf that looks great with the flow of the wind. You can bring out the innovativeness and be as playful as you want.
Try these portrait photography poses for your next photo shoot. These are just a few poses for your reference. You can learn more with the best Photography Courses in India.
