2020 gave us a lot of cancelled plans. Not that we are complaining, but we also can’t deny the fact that we missed attending those crazy weddings and most importantly dressing up. It’s 2021 now and everybody who had to postpone or cancel their important events last year are more than ready to send the invites out this year. Event invites mean dressing up and that means going online and finding looks that we would like to flaunt. So why not take tips from celebrity fashion stylists and try out some new styles this wedding season.
Celebrities have constantly been serving us with outfit inspirations, from their private, intimate weddings to glamorous reception parties, which is just great news for us. Some are pretty easy to recreate while others might be a task. While we don’t have to quite literally copy their looks, we sure can take some inspiration from them. There are certain elements in their looks that we might absolutely love and can incorporate in our own outfits. So we did come across some things that we really adored on our favourite celebs, we are going to decode some of those looks for you!
Let’s have a look at all the things that we can’t wait to add to our ensembles!
Table of Contents
Mathapatti
Mathapatti can be described as a piece of jewellery that is worn like a headband, mainly with ethnic wear outfits. We have recently seen some celebrities like Kajal Aggarwal and Hansika Motwani flaunt these Mathapatti for different wedding ceremonies. You can pair these up with lehengas and anarkalis and are available in a variety of designs. Even though the Mathapatti might feel like a statement piece, you can pair it along with either heavy jhumkas or a choker or keep it minimal with stud earrings and no neckpiece. Depending on your outfit you can pick your Matha Patti’s design.
Floral Braids
Floral Braids have always been loved by everybody, they are dainty, pretty to look at and don’t require much effort. If you have seen Sonam Kapoor’s wedding photos, you will see that for her wedding ceremony she opted for a twisted floral braid, that made us all go wow! To achieve these floral braids, all you need are some really cool braided hairstyles and a lot of floral malas. Braid your hair in a style you like the most, add some extensions for length if needed. Now take the floral mala and wrap it around the braid in single rounds or alternate rounds and you will end up with a pretty decked up hairstyle. Flowers are considered auspicious in Indian Weddings(1), so more flowers is the way to go!

Sleek Hairdos
Fuss free hairstyles are always preferred over super complicated ones. Sleek hairdos have become a favourite among brides & working women alike. These hairstyles are easy to do, look super chic and go with a variety of outfits. To add to all of this, hairdos like these will make you look put together and presentable all the time. Some of these that you may like to incorporate in your style game are sleek buns and neat braids. Celebrities like Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone opted for the sleek center parted bun for many of their wedding ceremonies. These hairdos highlight your facial features and let you shine through!
Banarasi Sarees
Banarasi sarees are bold, bright and come in a variety of vibrant colours. We would have seen our mom flaunting these beauties on special occasions. While they look amazing, they are also pretty heavy with a lot of zari work going on. You can wear these mainly for Indian weddings, puja events or family functions. We saw Dia Mirza dazzle in a bright red banarasi saree with a matching dupatta for her wedding and gave us some major outfit inspiration for the festive season. Banarasi sarees are a one-time investment, so even if they are a little expensive, you can invest in one and repurpose these for many occasions. Pair your banarasi saree with a self-blouse, you can play around with your blouse styles but keep the embroidery work to a minimum.

Blouse Mehendi
Now this is a pretty bold trend that’s been doing rounds on social media. A lot of women these days prefer minimal yet impactful ethnic wear and are often seen opting for pastel colours with subtle embroidery highlights. We recently saw a bride sporting a backless blouse and mehendi on her back! Well we must say this trend isn’t for the faint of heart, it is edgy and quite cheeky. If you are someone who loves to experiment then you can try this one out for yourself. All you need is a backless blouse and a Mehendi artist who is up for the challenge!
These are all the trends that we have come across that were really fascinating and fun to look at. You could try these and put your own spin on some of these looks.
